9/12/09 Rained out again. Car is back together and ready to go after a week of cutting, welding and riveting. Stafford has added another week to the Friday night schedule. September 18th and 25th will be the final Friday night shows followed by the Fall Final weekend

9/6/09 Could have been better. Trouble in the second warm up as a group of cars got together in turn one. Bottom was blocked by other cars avoiding the incident and Andrew had to try to go high and ended up putting the nose into the 99 broadside. Sorry to the 99 team believe me I wish we missed you.
With help from the Berardi team Alex and I were able to get the car repaired enough to run the rest of the night. Thanks John, like I said we couldn't have done it without your help. In the heat race we started on the pole but spun on the second lap. Andrew thought about trying to save it but didn't want to take anyone else out or wreck the car again. Finishing last in the heat gave us a 23rd starting position in the feature. Even with the damage the car was fast and gaining positions breaking into the top ten with Kyle Casagrande in the 7 following our car through the field on the bottom. Kyle got a little impatient and spun us in turn two getting himself an over aggressive driving penalty and putting us to the rear for spinning. Andrew managed to gain back most of the positions he lost and finished 11th. Feature was ended at lap 13 with a yellow checker, we sure could have used the last two laps.  Just my opinion but maybe Stafford should look at giving the car spun their position back if a penalty is issued. We need to replace front bumper, cross member, left front frame horn and nose support so we'll be busy this week.

Thanks to everyone who attended our MDA fundraiser Saturday. There are quite a few names on the hood. Thank you, Enfield Square Mall for hosting our event and Stafford Motor Speedway for donating tickets for our raffle.

8/31/09 Additional Friday night added. Rained out again last Friday. With so many canceled events this year Stafford Speedway has added Friday September 18th as the final Friday night show before the Fall Final. It will be tough with the tight points race and teams running hard to gain positions, but we will be trying in the last four races to finish in a podium position. We know the car can run up front and that would by far surpass our rookie season goal.

Please stop by Saturday September 5th for our MDA fundraiser at the Enfield Square Mall. More information is posted above.

8/25/09 Two warm-ups and then the rain came. Car ran well in warm-ups after repairs from last weeks crash so we'll see you this Friday as the weather looks good. We are planning an MDA (Jerry's Kids) fundraiser for Labor Day weekend so stay tuned. We should have all the details worked out tomorrow.

8/16/09
Nothing untouched. Last Friday night started out rough with a spin and contact with the turn four wall in the first warm up. Rear bumper was torn off and rear sheet metal bent. Alex and the team were able to make repairs for the feature and we started 17th with no heats again this week. First trouble came when Jeff Jolly in the 2 car was spun with his nose running down the left side of our car. Car was still ok though and we were working are way up running in 15th when up front the field started wrecking. Andrew had no where to go and that ended our night. Four bent wheels, right front suspension, some of the support bars and every body panel took a hit. I'll try to get some pictures posted. Frame and rear-end look ok so we'll be back this Friday looking for a good finish. Thanks go out to the Berardi Racing team for their help with repairs from our warm up crash and congratulations to Barry Fluckiger on his second win this season.

8/8/09 Another flag to flag feature. The Dare Stocks put on another great race Friday night going green to checker with no cautions. With no heat races this week we started 18th on the outside and finished 11th. A pretty good night considering the field was strung out by a turn one incident involving a lot of good cars. We don't like to see the yellow come out but we sure could of used one this week to bunch the field back up. Picked up a position in points, back up to 18th hopefully giving us a better shot at a good starting position next week.

8/2/09 Last Friday nights show canceled by rain. This Friday Aug. 7th the Modified Tour is back in town and that means no heats for the regular Stafford divisions. After falling back to 19th in points after the July 24th event it looks like we'll be starting deep in the field this
week.
We are seeking additional sponsorship to finish out this season and begin preparing for 2010. Our goal is to increase our spare parts inventory and to completely refresh the car at the end of this season. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

7/25/09 Started inside 2nd row for our heat race with the #6 finishing 8th after hanging on to a loose race car. Alex and myself decided on an adjustment with the hope of tightening up the car to run well in the feature.

The 15-lap DARE Stock feature took the green with Andrew Hayes on the pole and taking the early lead. Bill Dunn was hot on Hayes' heels, and he almost had a pass made for the lead on lap-3, but Hayes moved back out front to keep the lead. Albert Saunders was third, with Tony Membrino, Jr. and Duane Provost making up the top-5.
At the 10-lap mark, Hayes continued to hold the race lead with Dunn, Saunders, Membrino, and Provost behind him. Saunders got by Dunn for second and he moved by Hayes for the lead on lap-14. Saunders led the final two laps to take his second win of the 2009 season. Dunn finished second, with Membrino, Don Wood, and Kyle Casagrande rounding out the top-5.

Now for the rest of the story: Taking the white flag Bill Dunn passed Andrew for second with Tony Membrino Jr. close behind in forth. Top four ran thru turns one and two in the same positions. Coming down the back stretch Andrew saw an opportunity to get under Bill for a run at recapturing 2nd at the same time Tony had a run getting under Andrew's left rear quarter panel. Andrew ended up spinning from the contact with Tony's car and had to settle for a 19th place finish. Looked like a classic two cars going for the same spot racing incident, unfortunately we came out on the short end.
Still it was a great run for the Hayes Racing Group team. See you next week!

7/18/09 Now we're racing! Started the heat in the pole position this week. After being passed on the outside on the start car came up to speed and was fast. Andrew was catching leader and finished 2nd which gave us a 8th place starting position for the feature. Feature ran flag to flag and we ran well finishing 10th. Our first top ten for a new team is definitely an accomplishment after eight races. Driver gaining experience is a big part of running well. Once he gets the starts and restarts down we won't be losing time there. Alex will be looking to make an adjustment for more corner speed we need. Thanks again to Don from RAD for the quick turnaround on the engine repair.

7/11/09 Best finish of the season Friday night. After running a good race finished 12th, our best run to date. Alex's adjustments paid off as Andrew was able to get the car through the turns much quicker this week, passed some cars and held his own on the outside when he had to. We were starting at the back to keep out of the way but from here on out we'll go with our handicapped position. Pulling the motor and sending it to Don at RAD this week, heard a possible bearing knock loading car on the trailer after feature. If it is a bearing hopefully there is no other damage.

Attended the ERfC soap box derby today. Great event made for a lot of big smiles from the kids and adults. Our sponsor Howland and Sargent contributed a large amount to the organization and sponsorship of the event. Total Protection Security Systems also contributed as an event sponsor. Stafford Speedway's pace car was also there for the parade and race. Thanks again for letting us attend we had a great time.

7/3/09 All in all a good night for us. We are 19th in points one out of the top 18 so we don't get a handicapped position for the heat. After starting and finishing last in our 5 lap heat we started last on the inside for the feature. Through attrition (aka a lot of wrecks we were lucky to avoid)we finished 14th equaling our best finish this season. A good sign, Andrew is starting to get frustrated at not getting by cars he knows he should pass. Alex will make some minor adjustments to help the car turn better in the center of the corners. We are getting closer, driver just needs seat time.

6/27/09 A new sponsor and another rain out. Welcome to the team Howland and Sargent Insurance Group. Howland and Sargent offer both personal and business insurance with superior customer service and value. Please contact them for a quote on your insurance. We managed to get in two warm up sessions before the rain washed out another Stafford show. A little scare in the first warm up with a cracked valve cover leaking oil on the headers and causing a lot of smoke. Don from RAD helped us out with a replacement and car was looking good in second warm up. We'll see what the weather holds for next week.

6/20/09 Started and finished 17th last night. Feature went flag to flag with no cautions. Andrew is getting faster and kept the car out of trouble. We finished a half lap behind leaders. Crew is not making any big adjustments as car is comfortable to drive and once driver gains more experience we can start adjusting from his feedback.

6/13/09 The weather cooperated last night and after the last two weeks being canceled by rain a full show was run. Alex made sure car had no mechanical problems this week and Andrew is starting to get some speed out of the car. He has a long way to go but for his fourth week
in a race car not bad. We missed getting caught up in any wrecks and finished the feature 18th on the lead lap. Our thanks to John Berardi for his help with our transmission problem.

6/4/09 Another rain out last week. Transmission has been replaced along with a new set of valve springs, rockers and studs for the motor. Weather does not look good for this Friday either, lets hope for the best. Don't forget the Burn Camp fund raiser stop by and help the kids.

5/23/09 Late night. Modified Tour was in town so our feature started around 10:45. Apparently we have a transmission problem. No problems during warm-ups but on initial green flag for feature Andrew gave it the gas and engine over reved with no power making it to the rear tires. He let off and transmission engaged. Finished the feature 19th. Problem came back driving in from pits so it looks like we'll rebuild the transmission and go from there.

5/16/09 Finished both features! Night started with a bang. Left rear bumper and sheet metal took a hit from the turn one wall after getting sideways in front of another car during warm-ups. We straightened the sheet metal and Scott Roy helped us tighten the chassis. Much
better, thanks Scott. Ran both features and managed to avoid trouble. Finished 14th in make-up from last week and 17th in second feature. Now we need to get some new rubber on the car and give the driver a little more grip and confidence car will stick.

5/9/09 We were at Stafford last night and car ran well during warm-ups after the major repairs from our practice crash. Started feature in the rear and Andrew did a good job of missing the second lap crash in front of him. Before the restart the rain came and the rest of the race was canceled. This Friday Stafford will most likely finish last nights remaining laps as well as the regular racing program.
On another note, thankfully Scott Roy was not injured after a hard third turn hit in his Limited Late Model after a transmission failure. Our car was purchased from Scott and we hope he can make repairs and
be back soon.
4/23/09 As of tonight making the Sizzler will not be possible. Repairs have progressed well but unfortunately we have a bent rear end housing that needs to be straightened and reinstalled. Rear is in the shop but won't be ready in time. Car will be ready for the first Friday night show. Big downside is driver missing the seat time at Friday's practice. Thank you Barry Fluckiger and Don Wood for sending us in the right direction.

4/19/09 Good news and bad. Team made it to Stafford for practice yesterday and car made it through inspection with few issues. Andrew took to the track for the first time ever and started making some progress in getting up to speed. Now the bad, during the third practice round car got loose off turn four and unfortunately the experience factor kicked in, driver corrected and the car hooked up directly into the wall. Right front suspension, rear suspension, front and rear bumpers and body damage. That's racing. Thank you to everyone at the track that helped us out. Started repairs with the goal of making Friday's practice and Saturday's race, so its back to work. By the way were still in need of additional sponsorship, parts money is going fast.

3/18/09 Most of the mechanical work is finished and car is just about ready for the start of the season. Lettering, a few more rivets and fluid changes is all that's left to be ready for April 18th practice. Now we need to get tires and spare parts in order and set up trailer.

2/23/09 Body painting is complete and remounting is well underway. R.A.D. Auto Machine horsepower is under the hood. We are still hoping to secure a primary and additional associate sponsors before season starts. Be part of a new team at Stafford Motor Speedway!

2/13/09 It took us awhile but body painting is close to being completed. We delayed painting to finish some repairs on interior, crush panels and body, bumper mounts. Roof, hood and rear bumper are black. Fenders, doors and deck lid are red. Nose will be sprayed red after a few repairs. As soon as body is back on the chassis pictures will be posted. Still have a short list of mechanical updates to complete.
